Half-Day Morning

Chidiya Tapu Birding Tour

An Intensive, High-Yield Morning Session Capturing the Best of Forest and Shoreline Habitats

For travelers with limited time, or birdwatchers looking to squeeze an elite field session into their island holiday, our Half-Day Morning Tour offers the perfect, fast-paced solution. This 6-hour expedition takes you straight to Chidiya Tapu, famed as one of the most biodiverse hotspots on South Andaman. By hitting the trails exactly when the forest wakes up, we track an incredible mix of canopy specialists, colorful floor dwellers, and coastal shorebirds all within a single morning.

Tour Overview & Timings

To maximize your chances of clear sightings and great photography light, we maintain a strict, disciplined field schedule:

  • Start Time: 05:00 AM

  • End Time: 11:00 AM

  • Location: Chidiya Tapu (Deep Forest Roads, Nature Trails, & Coastline Habitat)

  • Pace: High-focus, patient, and optimized for target species.

THE MORNING EXPEDITION

We depart from your hotel at exactly early morning to arrive at Chidiya Tapu just as the first light breaks through the rainforest canopy, a peak window when resident species begin their loud morning feeding calls. Walking quietly along primary forest roads and dense trails under majestic Mahua and Padauk trees, we use the early morning hours to target key endemics and canopy specialists like the Andaman Serpent Eagle, Violet Cuckoo, Andaman Shama, Long-tailed Parakeet, Vernal Hanging Parrot, Andaman Bulbul, and Asian Fairy-Bluebird. After an intensive first session, we take a short break in the heart of nature to enjoy a fresh, packed field breakfast with hot tea while reviewing your morning checklist.
As the sun climbs higher and forest activity slows, we transition our route toward the pristine coastline, mudflats, and mangrove edges where changing tidal conditions reveal an entirely different ecosystem of waders and coastal hunters, giving you the chance to spot the Dollarbird, Collared Kingfisher, Pacific Reef Egret, Changeable Hawk-Eagle, Olive-backed Sunbird, and Philippine Shrike before wrapping up at 11:00 AM.

Expert Local Guiding: Led by passionate islanders who know every specific bird call, seasonal movement, and preferred perching branch in Chidiya Tapu.
Perfect for Photographers: Maximize your memory cards with the soft morning light, perfect for capturing sharp, high-contrast avian shots without the harsh midday glare.
